Our passion at Brambles is to share our love for excellent quality food with others

Brambles Delicatessen opened in 2006 in the picturesque ‘Artists’ Town’ of Kirkcudbright in South West Scotland by local lady Morag McLachlan. Brambles quickly established a reputation for selling a wide selection of quality foods both from Dumfries and Galloway and from around the world.
In 2015, the business was sold to Carrie Merrick and John Higgins, both from Halifax, West Yorkshire, who, having family in Kirkcudbright, had ‘fallen in love’ with Scotland and, in particular, Dumfries and Galloway, during a number of holidays and visits to the area.
Carrie previously worked in the commercial print sector and part-time at an award-winning tapas restaurant. It was here that her love for food was ignited and her enthusiasm and interest in the food industry began.
After leaving art college, John began working life as a pattern maker and went on to make and design crystal and glass kilns for companies such as Waterford Glass. His passion and artistic flair for cooking and his interest in world foods led him all over the UK, learning about different cooking techniques and this, added to Carrie’s interests, led them both to their joint venture of owning a delicatessen specialising in fine foods.
Their aim is simply to share their passion for excellent quality food with others.
Having discovered Brambles Deli in Kirkcudbright, many holidaymakers have often asked if they sell online. Now they do, so you don’t have to be visiting or living in Kirkcudbright to enjoy the fine selection of quality foods, ceramics and other products that are sold, you can now visit Brambles any time!
